Description: Labrador Emerald granite is the commercial name for a blue-green syenite (larvikite) of the Permian period. This stone internationally may be nominated as a granite but in the area of application of the European Standard this stone must be nominated as a syemite. Ideal for both interior and exterior use, Labrador Emerald granite is frost free and polish constant. The iridescence on the polished surface results of the reflection of light of the feldspar crystals. Mineral Composition: Syenite: Syenite is a coarse-grained intrusive igneous rock of the same general composition as granite but with the quartz either absent or present in relatively small amounts (<5%). The feldspar component of syenite is predominantly alkaline in character (usually orthoclase). Plagioclase feldspars may be present in small quantities, less than 10%
